Robert A Lookstein, MD MHCDL FSIR FAHA FSVM is Professor of Radiology and Surgery at the Ichan School of Medicine at Mount Sinai (ISMMS). After attending medical school at the State University of NY (SUNY) Health Science Center at Brooklyn in 1995, he completed his radiology residency and fellowship in Vascular and Interventional Radiology at ISMMS in New York. He subsequently joined the division of Vascular and Interventional Radiology as Faculty in 2002. Dr. Lookstein currently serves as Executive Vice Chairman in The Department of Diagnostic, Molecular, and Interventioal Radiology for the Mount Sinai Health System.
Dr. Lookstein currently lectures around the world on various subjects in the field of Vascular and Interventional Radiology including peripheral arterial imaging and intervention, endovascular interventions, pulmonary embolism, and deep vein thrombosis. He is recognized as an innovator in the field of peripheral vascular disease and noninvasive vascular imaging. His practice is focused on the diagnosis and treatment of peripheral vascular disease and venous thromboembolism
Dr. Lookstein is currently involved in numerous research studies related to peripheral vascular disease and venous thromboembolism including the STORM-PE pivotal randomized trial evaluating endovascular thrombectomy for acute pulmonary embolism as well the the MOTIV randomized trial for below knee bioabsorbable scaffolds and the Viafort study evaluating a novel venous stent for iliocaval venous obstructions.
Dr. Lookstein has authored hundreds of scientific abstracts and manuscripts related to cardiovascular imaging and intervention and has served as Assistant Editor for the American Journal of Roentgenology.
He is a regular faculty member of numerous national and international meetings including The International Society of Endovascular Therapy, Advanced Interventional Management, The Society of Interventional Radiology Annual Scientific Meeting, The Radiologic Society of North America, The American Heart Association Scientific Sessions, Transcatheter Cardiovascular Therapeutics, Vascular Interventional Advances (VIVA), and the PERT Consortium Annual Scientific Meeting.
