Dr. Deol is a board certified general surgeon with fellowship training, and 10-years of practice, in bariatric surgery. She transitioned to venous and lymphatic medicine in 2012, and has dedicated her entire career since then to the advancement of the field. She gained board certification in venous and lymphatic medicine (ABLVLM), and from her unique perspective as a bariatric surgeon, she takes a special interest in the relationship between obesity and venous & lymphatic disease. She has devoted her non-clinical time to the American Vein and Lymphatic Society (AVLS) over the years, and served as chair of their membership committee, member of the Board of Directors, alternate advisor to the CMS/RUC, and completed a full term as Secretary. Additionally, Dr. Deol founded and chaired a multi-specialty, multi-society VLM Coalition to gain ABMS/ACGME recognition of the specialty and its fellowship training programs. She has published scientific papers on venous and lymphatic disease, as well as the pursuits of VLM specialty recognition. She is also devoting her time to the Hackett, Hemwall, Patterson Foundation (HHPF) in their anual medical vein humanitarian trip to Honduras. In her "spare time" she is an accomplished dressage rider and owns a horse named Bucephalus (Beau for short.)
