Paul J. Gagne, MD is a practicing general vascular surgeon with The Vascular Care Group (TVCG), Darien, CT. He is focused on severe chronic venous hypertension due to deep and superficial venous disease. Dr. Gagne is the President of Vascular Breakthroughs, a clinical research company conducting clinical trials in the vascular intervention space. He is the Chief of Clinical Operations for Mangrove Management Partners, focused on efficient and patient focused care at outpatient Vascular Centers (TVCG), providing clinic, vascular lab, and interventional (OBL) services.
Dr. Gagne has a research background in basic science and clinical vascular interventions. He is broadly published and has been the principal investigator in dozens of clinical trials. Since 2007, he has focused on the treatment of severe venous disease. He is currently also working to improve the work environment for vascular surgeons to promote professional satisfaction, and improve patient access to quality care.
He is a graduate of the College of the Holy Cross and the New York University School of Medicine. He trained as a general surgeon at New York University, and in Vascular Surgery at the University of Arkansas for Medical Science, Little Rock. He is a Board-Certified Vascular Surgeon.
Dr. Gagne served for 8 years as a general and vascular surgeon in the US Navy before returning in 1999 to the Vascular Surgery faculty of New York University Medical Center. While at NYU he was awarded an NIH KO8 research grant for investigation into angiogenesis in critical limb ischemia and was the principal investigator for several clinical trials studying new clinical devices. In 2007, he entered private practice in Fairfield County, CT, where he has worked since. He started Vascular Breakthroughs in 2003 and The Vascular Care Group (TVCG), Darien in 2021.
