Dr. Joseph Raffetto is a vascular surgeon working clinically at VA Boston HCS, and his research is performed at Brigham and Women's Hospital Thorne Research Building. He is the Chief of Vascular Surgery at the VA Boston. He is an Associate Professor of Surgery at Harvard Medical School. He is the site coordinator for the combined Vascular Surgery Fellowship at Boston Medical Center. He has extensive experience in venous disease, clinical practice, and basic scientific research. His scientific interests are in pathophysiology and mechanisms of varicose veins and venous leg ulcers. He has published on arterial and venous topics including seminal basic science work in venous pathophysiology. His academic accomplishments include 108 peer reviewed publications, 28 book chapters, and over 400 presentations both nationally and internationally. Dr. Raffetto is an ad hoc reviewer for 48 journals, and on the editorial board of 5 journals. Dr. Raffetto is a member of 13 societies, including the AVLS, AVF, SVS, AVAS, NESVS, SCVS, AAS, EVF, and the ACS. He enjoys teaching students and residents, and practices the full spectrum of vascular diseases. He enjoys surfing, SUP, SCUBA, and running with 18 marathons completed.
